In physics, amplitude refers to the maximum extent of a vibration or oscillation, measured from the position of equilibrium. In the context of waves, amplitude is the distance from the center line (or the still position) to the top of a crest or to the bottom of a trough.
The amplitude of a wave determines its energy. Higher amplitude means more energy, and in the case of sound waves, a higher amplitude corresponds to a louder sound.
Current amplitude: 50
As you adjust the amplitude, notice how the height of the wave increases or decreases. This visualizes how amplitude affects the overall energy and intensity of the wave.
